Psychoanalysis, South East London - Psychotherapist in the Forest Hill, Honor Oak, Dulwich area
Psychoanalytic psychotherapy provides a space in which to explore difficult thoughts and feelings — things it may be extremely hard to find an outlet for in the rest of your life. The emphasis is on listening to people rather than giving advice or instructions in order to create a therapeutic conversation. Psychoanalysis recognises that not all our thoughts, feelings and desires are conscious, and that unconscious desires can disrupt our conscious intentions and create conflict in us.
While some treatments set out to remove symptoms as quickly as possible, psychoanalysis aims to give you time to think more deeply about the causes of your unhappiness, and to build your own unique solutions. The advantage of this is the far greater understanding it can give you of yourself. Rather than promoting superficial 'improvements', analysis can, at its best, be genuinely transformational.
Send me an email if you're thinking about psychotherapy. We can arrange an initial consultation where we can meet and discuss any thoughts, hopes or concerns you might have about psychoanalysis/psychotherapy.
My consulting room is in Forest Hill, South East London, SE23 close to Honor Oak, Dulwich, Catford and Lewisham.
